Those are your practice management + EHR systems — charting, claims, scheduling. What about HIPAA? Doesn’t this require a BAA?

By default Ovox is designed for scheduling and intake — it captures only what’s needed to book a new-patient visit (name, insurance carrier, reason for visit, preferred provider, urgency). It’s not designed for clinical conversations or PHI handling. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest; US data residency is available; a BAA is available on the enterprise plan if your practice or compliance team requires one.

Can it triage real medical urgency?

It triages well-defined urgency thresholds you configure (chest pain, breathing difficulty, pediatric fever above [X], etc.) and immediately escalates with one-tap call to your on-call physician’s number plus a flagged-urgent lead card to your front desk. It’s not a substitute for an actual nurse triage line — and the agent itself defers anything ambiguous to a human. Most practices use Ovox’s triage as the first filter before the on-call physician’s sleep gets interrupted.

Will my insurance verification still happen accurately?

Ovox does not do live insurance verification — that’s your front desk’s job at the visit. It can confirm which carriers you accept (from your authorized list) and tell prospective patients you’ll verify benefits at scheduling. This prevents the most common after-hours bounce (“do you take my insurance?”) without exposing you to verification errors.
