Different industry, same agent — different way to describe it
You might be looking for the same product under a different name.
Some buyers describe what we do as “answering service” or “virtual receptionist.” Others describe the exact same product as “chatbot,” “chat widget,” or “AI sales agent.” All of these pages run the same Ovox agent under the hood — each framed for how a different kind of buyer comes in.

How vertical-specific Ovox actually is
Same engine, industry-specific intake — not industry-rebranded marketing.
Most “AI for [your industry]” products are one generic chatbot with the homepage rebranded fourteen different ways. Ovox is the same engine underneath, but the intake questions, the routing rules, the urgency thresholds, the compliance defaults, and the calendar logic are all configured per vertical. Below is the actual difference, by industry.
What changes between verticals
Intake fields. A plumbing intake captures “is there active water damage right now,” a dental intake captures “new patient or existing patient + insurance carrier,” a real-estate intake captures “buying or selling + budget + timeframe.” You don't want a plumber answering an insurance question; you don't want a dental practice asking about ruptured pipes. Ovox ships with the right defaults per vertical and lets you edit them.
Routing and escalation. A locksmith call at 2am gets paged to the on-call tech immediately; a med-spa inquiry at 2am gets queued for the 8am callback. Different verticals have completely different urgency thresholds, and the agent enforces them.
Calendar logic. Dental practices want appointments matched to the right provider and the right insurance type. Real-estate showings want the listing agent, then the team backup, then any agent. Funeral homes want every call routed to a human, every time. The calendar logic is per-vertical out of the box.
Compliance defaults. US medical practices need HIPAA-aware data handling. UK solicitors have SRA messaging rules. Canadian financial advisors have IIROC disclosure language. Ovox bakes in the right disclosures and PHI-handling rules per vertical so you don't have to write them.
Where Ovox is the strongest fit
Speed-to-lead matters. Real estate (917-minute industry median response time), home services (after-hours emergency capture), legal (PNC intake within the statute window), HVAC and plumbing (the “first contractor to call back wins” effect). Every vertical we serve has documented research showing speed beats almost every other lever for conversion.
You're losing calls and chats today. If your “answering service” is voicemail after 5pm or a $1.20/minute receptionist who reads scripts and emails you the next morning, the unit-economics math always works for switching. The break-even is usually under 200 minutes of human-answered time per month.
You can describe the right next step. If you know what should happen next when a new patient calls (book the consult), a new lead messages (qualify and book the showing), a new caller asks about pricing (capture the project size and route to the right rep), Ovox can run the workflow. If you can't describe the right next step in plain English, no AI can.
How to use this index
Pick your vertical from the grid above. Each vertical page tells you the speed-to-lead research for that industry, the intake fields Ovox ships with by default, the calendar/CRM integrations we've built specifically for that vertical, and a one-click route to the install. If your vertical isn't listed (we cover 14 of the largest service-business verticals today and add a new one every month), email contact@ovox.ai — we'll prioritize it.

Frequently asked
Questions service-business owners ask before picking the vertical version.
How is the “dental” version different from the “real estate” version?
Different intake fields (new patient + insurance vs. buyer/seller + budget), different urgency rules (most dental inquiries are next-business-day; real-estate showings can be same-day), different calendar logic (provider-matching for dental vs. listing-agent-first for real estate), different compliance defaults (HIPAA-aware data handling for dental, fair-housing language for real estate). Same underlying agent, same $197/mo, vastly different out-of-the-box behavior.
What if my vertical isn't listed?
Email contact@ovox.ai with a one-line description of your business and we'll either point you to the closest vertical we already cover or queue your industry for the next add (typically 2–3 weeks from request to live). The base $197/mo plan doesn't change — we don't charge per-vertical activation fees.
Can I customize the intake fields beyond the defaults?
Yes — this is the single most-edited setting on the platform. Every vertical ships with sensible defaults, and the dashboard lets you add, remove, reorder, or override any field with one click. Most owners spend 5–10 minutes the first week tuning the intake to what their team actually wants on every lead card.
Will the AI actually understand my industry vocabulary?
Yes. Ovox is trained on a couple billion words of service-business conversation transcripts across every vertical we publish a page for. The dental version knows the difference between a crown and a bridge, an Invisalign consult and a clear-aligner consult. The real-estate version knows what “contingent on appraisal” means. The plumbing version knows the difference between a leak and a burst pipe. Test it on your own site to verify before you pay.
Can I use Ovox if I serve more than one vertical (e.g. a multi-disciplinary clinic)?
Yes. You can run one agent that branches on the caller's intent (“Is this about dental, medical, or aesthetics today?”) or run multiple agents on the same account, each with the right vertical defaults. Both setups are configured from the same Ovox dashboard, billed under one $197/mo plan.
